Kent Construction Consultants, East Kent’s leading and award winning Chartered Quantity Surveyors are actively seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The role requires candidates who are Degree qualified, with aspirations of becoming professionally recognised by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and/or Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the pre-construction and delivery stages of contracts and reporting costs of a construction project. His/her job description involves carrying out studies of project duration and labour costs, examining and analysing material costs, preparing RIBA staged cost planning, cost assessments and value engineering, tendering and procurement, contract preparation, coordinating supply deliveries, raising payment certifications, change control management, contract administration and providing clients, contractors and stakeholders advice and suggestions on legal and contractual issues. The project/s will consist of new high-end residential developments, education, healthcare and hospitality projects located throughout Kent, London, and further afield.

As a Quantity Surveyor your qualities and skills will include strong analytical skills, critical thinking, adequate knowledge of construction, excellent negotiating, well-developed interpersonal skills, ability to plan, organize, and strategize, good networking abilities, detail-oriented mind, great verbal and written communication, and good time management.
Role Description
Please see below the Quantity Surveyor role description but not limited to;
• Preparation of NRM1 Cost Plans and NRM2 Bills of Quantities.
• Tendering and appointment of professional designers and consultants.
• Recommending and preparing procurement strategies and tendering options.
• Assisting with pre-commencement and occupation planning conditions to be discharged.
• Facilitate and deliver tender management and awards.
• Lead, minute and distribute DTMs, progress meetings, mid-tender interviews, and prestart meetings.
• Lead and recommend traditional and design & build procurement deliveries.
• Management of clients, main contractors, and specialist contractors.
• Executing various forms of JCT, NEC and/or Framework main contracts.
• Preparation and submission of monthly cost reporting and/or cost value reconciliation reports.
• Preparation and submission of monthly valuation assessments and payment notice certificates in accordance with the form of contract and Construction Act.
• Value, assess and manage change control procedures and value both risk and opportunities.
• Review and aid cash forecasts which align construction programmes.
• Administration of contracts, including notices and procedures.
• Strong document management and presentation skills
• Commercial willingness to learn the contract forms.
• Keen to learn and understand technical requirements and construction technology.
• Ability to work collectively within the commercial team and wider professional team.
• Experience using digital measuring software such as Bluebeam, Costx, Causeway or similar.
The successful candidate must hold a full UK Driving Licence and use of own transportation. The role will require the candidate to be based between home, site, and our office located in Margate.
