Former Smiths Court Hotel Margate

Kent Construction Consultants are extremely pleased to be appointed by international hotel provider Selina to deliver another exciting hotel within the United Kingdom. The Smith’s Court Hotel was purchased by Selina in 2022, to be another addition to the chain’s ever-growing portfolio. The existing hotel is set along Margate seafront and was anticipated to be a prime location for the influx of staycations being seen in the UK. To breathe new life into the existing hotel built in the 1800s, the project includes the creation of additional rooms, two new bars, and a co-working space. The client brought ‘Latin vibes to Margate’ with vibrant colours, wall art and bespoke furniture.”

Our practice has been appointed to deliver full Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Contract Administration and Project Management professional services. We are working alongside our appointed consultants Vantage Building Control Ltd and HCUK Group on this exciting scheme. This multimillion-pound project was executed under a JCT 2016 Prime Cost Contract, with the programme period only lasting 12 weeks. This project forms a key example of Selina’s plans to rapidly expand across Europe and the United States, targeting 400 locations and 100,000 beds by 2023. Selina provides guests with beautiful places to stay, travel, and work abroad indefinitely with currently over 145 destinations worldwide.
