THE GREAT BEACH CLEAN UP

Kent Construction Consultants have recently joined our local community project “Rise Up. Clean Up. Margate.” to help clean up our local beach. Founded in July 2020, Rise Up Clean-up have already made a massive impact, collecting over 4,800kg of litter. A truly amazing community-driven movement aimed at protecting Margate’s beaches and keeping our waters clean.

Kent Construction Consultants recently had the privilege of taking part in our first monthly clean-up. A few members of our team headed down to Margate beach after work, to help clean up all the litter from the busy summer period. Our surveyors may have been suited and booted, but the evening heat did not stop them from collecting an astonishing amount of rubbish. On a busy day in the summer, around 1,500 people arrive at Margate Train Station every hour. This accumulates a huge amount of littering; even litter that makes its way to the bins can end up on the floor, due to the overflow of rubbish.

Kent Construction Consultants will be taking part in our local beach clean at the end of each month moving forward. We love nothing more than helping our local community projects and charities.

Thanet District Council have since installed 12 x tidy Pac stations along Margate Main Sands, giving people free bags to help them do their own beach cleans and normalising the act of litter picking. This idea was put forward to the council by Rise Up Clean Up. Their next mission is to vouch for a water fountain to be installed. We can’t wait to see all their upcoming projects.
